ShareFile Windows App: Troubleshooting Wizard

Troubleshooting Checklist

Prefer a simple text version? Follow the steps below in order. If a step doesn’t fix the issue, continue to the next.

1. Check the system tray: Click the ^ caret in the Windows taskbar. If you see the ShareFile icon with an exclamation mark, right-click it → Exit, then relaunch ShareFile from the Start menu.
2. Reset the app: Resets app state and forces a resync (does not delete cloud files).
   Reset guide. Use subdomain jitasa. You may be prompted for MFA (text/phone/Authenticator).
3. Exit and reconnect the app: Quit ShareFile completely and sign in again.

4. Restart your computer: Rebooting clears many temporary issues and refreshes background processes.
5. Confirm your credentials: First log in at the ShareFile web portal to ensure your email/password work. Then use the same credentials in the Windows app. Check LastPass for stored details if needed. You may be prompted for MFA.
6. Run Windows Update: Settings → Windows Update → Check for updates → Install → Restart.
7. Install the latest ShareFile app:
   Download here.
8. Check ShareFile service status: If multiple people are affected, check for ongoing incidents:
   status.sharefile.com.
9. Uninstall and reinstall ShareFile:
   1. Uninstall: Settings → Apps → ShareFile → Uninstall.
   2. Restart your computer after uninstalling (required).
   3. Download and install the latest ShareFile installer.
   4. When prompted for a subdomain, enter jitasa, then sign in and complete authentication (MFA may be required).
